Trimbakeshwar Temple and Kushavarta Closed to Outside Devotees From Noon on 30 October to 6 PM on 31 October: Collector's Order, Only Residents and Pass Holders Get In

Trimbakeshwar temple and Kushavarta Tirth are closed to outside devotees from 12 noon on Friday 30 October until 6 PM on Saturday 31 October, or until the flag hoisting programme ends. Collector Ayush Prasad announced the restriction in a press release on 29 October, according to PTI and Hindusthan Samachar. Only residents of Trimbakeshwar town and holders of official darshan passes from the district administration or the temple trust will be let in. This replaces the 21 October report that the temple would stay open on 31 October with 3,000 passes. A separate order closes the town to outside vehicles from 6 AM on 30 October to 8 PM on 31 October.

If you were planning darshan at Trimbakeshwar today or tomorrow, change your plan. REPORTED, citing an official release: PTI and Hindusthan Samachar (29 October) say District Collector Ayush Prasad announced the closure in a press release. We have not seen the order itself.

This is a follow-up to our 22 October story, Trimbakeshwar temple to stay open on 31 October with 3,000 passes. That plan has now changed.

Temple and Kushavarta: who can go in

  • When: from 12 noon on Friday 30 October to 6 PM on Saturday 31 October 2026, or until the programme ends.
  • What is closed: darshan at Trimbakeshwar temple and Kushavarta Tirth for devotees coming from outside.
  • Who can still enter: residents of Trimbakeshwar town, and devotees with an official darshan pass issued by the district administration or the Trimbakeshwar Devasthan Trust.
  • Why: security of the President and other VVIPs, and crowd control. Hindusthan Samachar says the decision came out of a meeting of the Superintendent of Police (Nashik rural), the temple trust secretary and the District Disaster Management Authority.
  • Legal basis: section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (Hindusthan Samachar). PTI says violators face action under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Maharashtra Police Act.
  • Not announced: how outside devotees can get a pass, and the exact time normal darshan resumes on 31 October.

This is on top of the Nashik to Trimbak road closure and the Girnare detour. See the road closure story.

Trimbak procession today

Saimat Live reports the town's flag procession leaves Kushavarta at 4 PM on Friday 30 October, goes via Teli Galli, Indira Gandhi Marg, Patil Lane, Ambedkar Chowk, the temple, Laxminarayan Chowk and Main Road, and returns to Kushavarta by about 8 to 8:30 PM. It has 11 tableaux and the sadhus will walk, because road works have narrowed some streets.

Sources differ

  • Who hoists the flag at Kushavarta: Hindusthan Samachar says Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis hoists it at Kushavarta while the President hoists it at Ramkund. Sarkarnama earlier reported the Shringeri Shankaracharya would hoist it. See the President's reported Trimbak plan.
  • Start time of the town traffic order (6 AM) differs from the 8 AM start of the Nashik to Trimbak road closure. They are two different orders.
