Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Road Closed From 8 AM on 30 October to 8 PM on 31 October: Detour via Girnare, Ghoti Route Shut; Police List Goda Aarti Entry Bans and a Fuller Procession Route
The usual Nashik–Trimbakeshwar road will be closed from 8 AM on Friday 30 October to 8 PM on Saturday 31 October, under a notification by Additional District Magistrate Rohitkumar Rajput, because the President and the Chief Minister are to visit Kushavarta (Prahaar, Sakal, Times of India, 26 October). Traffic goes via Govardhan and Girnare instead, about 61 km against the usual 30 km, and the Ghoti–Trimbak road is also shut (TOI). TOI's fuller account of the Nashik city police notice adds a procession route through Main Road, Goda Aarti entry bans, more no-parking stretches and the President's route: Ozar, Ramkund, Trimbakeshwar and back to Ramkund.

The district administration has now issued the traffic plan for the Trimbakeshwar side of the flag hoisting, and the Times of India has published a fuller version of the Nashik city police notice we covered yesterday (26 October story). REPORTED: we have not seen either notification ourselves. The Trimbak routes below are from Prahaar and Sakal, which match each other and the Times of India; the extra city details are from the Times of India.
Nashik–Trimbakeshwar road: closed from 8 AM on 30 October to 8 PM on 31 October
Additional District Magistrate Rohitkumar Rajput has issued a notification under Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, because the President and the Chief Minister are to visit Kushavarta and the new ghat in Trimbakeshwar (Prahaar, Sakal, 26 October). It applies from 8 AM on Friday 30 October to 8 PM on Saturday 31 October.
- Nashik to Trimbakeshwar: the usual road (Nashik, Pimpalgaon Bahula, Sandip Foundation, Khambale, Pegalwadi Phata) is closed. Use Amrut Chowk, Bardan Phata, Govardhan, Girnare, Dhondegaon, Devargaon, Waghera Phata, Amboli Phata, Sapgaon, Trimbakeshwar.
- Trimbakeshwar to Nashik, and traffic from Jawhar–Mokhada: instead of Amboli, Trimbakeshwar, Pegalwadi, Khambale, use Jawhar, Mokhada, Amboli T-point, Waghera Phata, Kone, Sapte, Devargaon, Girnare, Govardhan, Nashik.
- From the Mumbai side (Vaitarna Phata, Pahine, Trimbakeshwar): go via Vaitarna Phata, Nashik, Amrut Garden, Bardan Phata, Govardhan, Girnare, Dhondegaon, Trimbakeshwar.
- Pahine to Nashik: Pahine, Ahurli, Sanjegaon, Wadivarhe, Nashik.
- Pahine to Trimbakeshwar: Pahine, Bhilmal, Nirgudpada, Jambhulpada, Sapgaon, Trimbakeshwar.
- The PWD and NHAI have been told to put up direction boards on these routes.
How much longer it is: the Times of India says the detour from Nashik is about 61 km instead of the regular 30 km each way. It also says the 42 km Ghoti–Trimbakeshwar road is closed and vehicles must go via Nashik, Govardhan and Girnare, about 104 km each way. These distances are TOI's; the notification summaries in Prahaar and Sakal do not give them.
Nashik city: what the fuller police notice adds
The Times of India's report of 26 October on the city police notice has details that were not in Sakal's summary, which we used yesterday:
- Procession route on 30 October: Tapovan ground, Aathvan Lawns, T Corner, Tapovan crossing, Panchmukhi Hanuman temple, Katya Maruti Chowk, Devi Chowk, Ganeshwadi, Phul Bazaar, Gadge Maharaj bridge, Delhi Gate, Nehru Chowk, Dhumal Point, Main Road, Ravivar Karanja, Ahilyabai Holkar bridge, Malegaon Stand, Ramkund.
- This settles yesterday's route question. Sakal's shorter version stayed in Panchavati. TOI's list includes the Main Road stretch given earlier by the NMC and Saamana, and it explains why Ashok Stambh to Ravivar Karanja and Red Cross to Dhumal Point are closed. Treat TOI's longer route as the working route.
- Timings (no change): from 6 AM until the procession ends on 30 October, and from 6 AM to midnight on 31 October.
- More closures on 31 October: Gadge Maharaj bridge and Gondhal Gate, besides Ram Setu bridge and the roads we listed yesterday.
- Goda Aarti entry bans on 31 October: Ekmukhi Datta Mandir, Gandhi Talav, Yashwant Patangan, Kapurthala Maidan, Rokdoba Maidan ghat, Gurancha Davakhana, Gharpure Ghat, Siddheshwar Mandir, Dhumal Point, Nehru Chowk and Main Road.
- More no-parking stretches: Katya Maruti Chowk to Indai Lawns, Khadkali signal to Shalimar, and Tractor House to Amardham Road, on top of the ones already listed.
- Exempt: police, ambulances, hearses and fire engines.
The President's route, and the aarti time
TOI says the President's convoy will go from Ozar airport to Ramkund, then to Trimbakeshwar, back to Ramkund, and then she flies back to New Delhi. Convoys of the Governor, the Chief Minister, both Deputy Chief Ministers and central and state ministers will also move through the city. Rashtrapati Bhavan has still not published her programme. Earlier reports on her time in Trimbak: Kushavarta plan.
Goda Aarti time: sources differ. TOI's account of the police notice gives 7 PM. Lokmat Times (16 October) and Prahaar had given 6 PM, and eSakal 6:45 PM. The entry bans start in the morning in any case, so arrive early.
Rehearsal (REPORTED, Apla Nashik 24): a full rehearsal is to run from the Nashik airport to the MPA guest house, Ramtirth and Kushavarta, with an evening run-through of the Maha Aarti, shankhnaad, lights and sound at the aarti site. Kumbh Commissioner Shekhar Singh has given instructions to 32 departments. The report does not give the rehearsal date, so expect short road holds on these routes before 31 October.
What to do
- Going to Trimbakeshwar on 30 or 31 October? Allow at least twice the usual travel time and fill fuel before you leave, or go on another day. The temple is open only to 3,000 pass holders on 31 October (details).
- Coming from the Mumbai or Igatpuri side: the Pahine and Ghoti roads into Trimbak are closed. Plan to come via Nashik.
- In Nashik: do not drive towards Panchavati. Park at one of the listed spots and walk (parking list). For the evening aarti, keep off Main Road, Nehru Chowk and Dhumal Point by car.
