Nashik Kumbh 2027 accommodation

Last updated:

Where will you stay during the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh 2027? This page sums up what the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority (NTKMA) has said so far about hotels, tent cities, homestays and shelters. Short answer: rooms will be scarce, official booking is not open yet, and no official prices have been published. Read on before you pay anyone. This is an independent guide, not an official website.

The situation: not enough rooms

According to NTKMA, Nashik has more than 1,500 hotel beds, and there are over 100 dharamshalas across Nashik and Trimbak. NTKMA itself says this is not enough (Lokmat Times and Hindustan Times, September 2026).

For scale: the NTKMA plan expects about 1.5 crore pilgrims in Nashik and 0.75 crore in Trimbak on an Amrit Snan day. With hotel beds counted in thousands and visitors in crores, most visitors will not find a hotel bed on those days. That is why NTKMA is pushing tent cities and homestays.

What this means for you: if you need a hotel, start looking early and book only through trusted channels. Coming for the day and leaving the same day is another option. See how to reach for the shuttle bus plan.

Tent cities

NTKMA plans tent cities on the Prayagraj model, Commissioner Shekhar Singh said on record (reported by Lokmat Times, 1 Sep 2026):

  • Sites identified: about 80 acres in Nashik and more than 50 acres in Trimbak. A third site is being looked for.
  • NTKMA will provide drainage, water and power.
  • Private operators will provide beds, washrooms and dining.
  • About 20 hospitality firms are in talks.

Earlier, the Times of India (3 Jul 2026) reported plans for tent cities at 5 to 6 locations with "nearly 25,000 tents", with sites not yet final. Treat that figure as a media report.

Rules for private tent cities

NTKMA issued a standard operating procedure (SOP) for private tent cities on 29 Sep 2026, as reported by Free Press Journal:

  • Who can apply: a private landowner, or an operator with a registered MoU with a landowner.
  • Land: at least 2 acres, in one piece, free of disputes, in Nashik district.
  • Period: tent cities may run from March to December 2027. After that, everything must be taken down.
  • Safety and cleanliness: no waste water into rivers or nalas, separate collection of waste, ELCB-protected wiring checked before guests move in, and an emergency plan.
  • Applications are to open "shortly". They had not opened when this page was updated.

Booking app: approved, not live

NTKMA approved ₹5 crore for an Android and iOS app and an official web portal (Times of India, 3 Jul 2026). The app is for tent-city booking only. It will not book hotels or homestays. As far as we could find, neither the app nor the portal is live yet, and no official tent prices have been published.

Homestays

About 600 Nashik properties are listed on Airbnb today. NTKMA is working with Airbnb to take this to at least 2,000, and plans a campaign asking residents to rent out rooms, Shekhar Singh said on record in September 2026.

The NTKMA plan mentions "structured registrations" of homestay owners. But no homestay registration procedure or policy has been published yet. There is no official list of approved homestays and no official rate.

What this means for you: if you book a homestay, use a platform you trust, read the reviews, and do not pay a stranger in advance through a chat message.

For overseas visitors

NTKMA expects at least 5 lakh foreign visitors, Hindustan Times reported on 4 Oct 2026, quoting officials. There will be no special lodging for foreigners. They can stay in hotels or in private tent cities, like other pilgrims.

NTKMA plans help desks at airports in Nashik, Mumbai, Delhi and other cities, working with the Ministry of External Affairs and embassies. Collector Ayush Prasad spoke of "aggressive branding" of the mela abroad.

Sadhugram and pilgrim shelters

Sadhugram at Tapovan is where the akhadas and sadhus will camp. It is not general lodging for pilgrims. NMC expects sadhus to start arriving there from July 2027, the Times of India reported (4 Oct 2026).

For ordinary pilgrims, the NTKMA plan includes two kinds of simple shelters. The plan calls these tentative:

  • Bhavik Gram: sheds for 50,000 people at parking points.
  • Yatri Nivas: shelters for 50,000 people near Sadhugram.

How these will be allotted, and whether there will be any charge, has not been published yet.

Avoid scams

Big events attract fake booking offers. Keep these points in mind:

  • No official prices for tents, homestays or shelters have been published. Any "official rate card" you see is not from NTKMA.
  • No official e-pass or pilgrim registration has been announced. Some unofficial websites talk about one. Treat such claims as unverified.
  • The official NTKMA app and portal are not live yet. An app or site claiming to be the official Kumbh booking service today should be treated with care.
  • This website is independent. We do not take bookings or sell passes.

For official news, check the NTKMA pages on the Divisional Commissioner's website. We follow new announcements on our news page.
