The Nashik Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027, one of the most sacred pilgrimages in Hinduism, will officially commence with a grand flag hoisting ceremony on October 31, 2026. This ceremony, known as 'Dhwaja Sthapana,' marks the formal invitation to saints, sadhus, and devotees from across the world to begin their spiritual journey toward the holy banks of the Godavari River in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar.
The three most auspicious Amrit Snan (sacred bathing) dates have been finalized based on planetary alignments. The first Shahi Snan will take place on August 2, 2027, followed by the second on August 31, 2027, and the final and most significant bathing ritual on September 11-12, 2027. Millions of devotees are expected to take a holy dip in the Godavari during these dates, believed to wash away sins and grant moksha.
Pilgrims can expect an unprecedented level of preparation for this edition of the Kumbh Mela. The Maharashtra government has initiated a comprehensive development plan spanning infrastructure, transportation, sanitation, and security. From newly constructed ghats along the Godavari to AI-powered crowd management systems, every detail is being meticulously planned to ensure a safe and spiritually fulfilling experience.
The 21-month-long festival will witness the convergence of all 13 Akhadas, thousands of Naga Sadhus, and spiritual leaders from every corner of India. With an expected footfall of 15 to 20 crore devotees, the 2027 Nashik Kumbh is set to be the largest and most technologically advanced gathering in its centuries-old history.
