The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has approved three tourism projects, according to reports in the Times of India and Prahaar. They are a Ramayana Theme Park, a Digital Experience Centre and the redevelopment of Yashwant Market.
This is based on media reports. It is not yet officially confirmed by NMC.
The approval came at NMC's general body meeting on Tuesday, 6 October. Mayor Himgauri Aher chaired the meeting.
The three projects
- Ramayana Theme Park: This will be at Adgaon, on land owned by NMC. As per the reports, it will have a 360° dome, an amphitheatre and a replica of a Shri Ram temple.
- Digital Experience Centre: This will be at Ganeshwadi Market in Panchavati.
- Yashwant Market: The third project is the redevelopment of Yashwant Market.
All three projects will use a public-private model called DBFOT. This stands for design, build, finance, operate and transfer.
What is not known yet
- No cost has been given for any of the three projects.
- No completion date has been given. It is not known when the projects will open.
What this means for pilgrims
For now, nothing changes. There is nothing new to visit yet. These projects have only been approved, and work has not been reported to have started.
So far this is an approval by the general body. We will update this post when NMC shares more details, such as the cost and the time it will take.
