₹370-Crore Mukane Water Treatment Plant Gathers Pace Ahead of Kumbh

NMC's ₹370-crore Mukane WTP (about 274 MLD on ~7 acres), funded through green bonds, is under round-the-clock work. A 90 MLD storage tank was in a 48-hour concreting pour; a ~13 km pipeline will link Vilholi to Sadhugram and Nilgiri Bagh.

The Nashik Municipal Corporation's ₹370-crore Mukane Water Treatment Plant (WTP) is moving on a war footing ahead of Simhastha. The Times of India reported on 8 October 2026 that mayor Himgauri Aher and municipal commissioner Manisha Khatri inspected the site near Mukane dam late at night. This progress report is confirmed.

What is being built

  • A treatment plant of about 274 MLD on nearly seven acres.
  • A major milestone: a 90 MLD storage tank (about 60 metres diameter) was under a continuous 48-hour concreting pour.
  • A roughly 13 km distribution pipeline from Vilholi toward Sadhugram (Tapovan) and Nilgiri Bagh in Panchavati.

The project is funded through green bonds. NMC is also upgrading pumping and distribution under AMRUT 2.0, looking ahead to demand through about 2050.

Mayor Aher said Kumbh works are being watched closely and quality must not slip for speed. Related water planning: NMC's 8,005 MCFT reservation proposal.
