First announced on

On Saturday night we were still calling the Goda Aarti record unconfirmed. That has now changed. CONFIRMED by the Guinness representative at the venue, as reported by the Hindustan Times (1 November). Guinness World Records has not yet published it on its own website that we can find.
This is a follow-up to our 19 October story, Two world-record attempts before the flag hoisting.
What happened
- When and where: the evening of Saturday 31 October 2026, on the Godavari bank at Ramkund (Ramtirth), Nashik, as part of the Simhastha flag-hoisting celebrations.
- Who: 6,233 tribal participants, including women, from 650 villages across rural Nashik, in the presence of President Droupadi Murmu and other dignitaries (Hindustan Times). Punekar News says they came from seven talukas.
- How long: about 20 minutes of aarti amid Vedic chanting (Hindustan Times).
- The record: Guinness representative Rishikesh Nag announced the achievement at the venue (Hindustan Times). Organisers say it beat an earlier record of about 3,800 women performing aarti together (NDTV Profit, Inshorts).
- Organisers: the Ramteerth Goda Aarti Committee under the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority, with guardian minister Girish Mahajan's guidance (Punekar News); NDTV Profit also names the Ananta Vijay Shankhnaad Sanstha, the Ramteerth Godavari Seva Samiti and the Purohit Sangh.
Second record in a week
On 25 October, 517 conch players at Ramtirth set the first record (most outlets; some say 501). Read the Shankhnaad record story.
Where reports differ
- Count: the certified figure in the Hindustan Times, Punekar News, Vegvan Maharashtra and NationPress is 6,233. The plan was 6,500, and NDTV Profit still uses about 6,500. PTI earlier quoted officials putting it at 6,657.
- Timing: NDTV Profit says the record attempt was at 4 PM and the aarti was repeated in the evening in the President's presence. Other outlets describe a single evening aarti.
Why it matters for visitors
Nothing changes for your Kumbh plans. The Goda Aarti at Ramkund remains a daily evening ritual, and the main crowds are expected for the three Amrit Snans in August and September 2027.
