Work is under way on 18 major roads in Nashik ahead of the Simhastha Kumbh, according to the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC). Asphalting will pick up from November. This is a media report by Swarajya on 4 October. It has not yet been officially confirmed.
What the minister asked for
Minister Girish Mahajan told NMC to use the time after the monsoon to catch up on delays. He asked NMC to:
- fix potholes
- give priority to the sewage treatment plants (STPs) at Tapovan and Agartakli
- clear the hurdles on the bridge between Gharpure Ghat and Ramwadi
Where the road work stands
According to NMC:
- 18 major roads are under construction.
- About 90% of utility shifting is done. This means moving pipes, cables and other lines out of the way before a road is built.
- Asphalting picks up from November.
NMC Commissioner Manisha Khatri said the road parallel to Gangapur Road is the priority. Tenders for it are expected within a month.
What this means for pilgrims
These roads are part of the city's work for the Kumbh. Road work is going on in many parts of Nashik. If you visit in the coming months, allow extra time on the roads.
The big days are still some way off. The Dhwajarohan is on 31 October 2026 at 12:02 PM. The Amrit Snans are on 2 August, 31 August and 11 September (Nashik) and 12 September (Trimbakeshwar) 2027.

We will update this post when NMC shares official details.
