Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has proposed ₹6.56 crore of extra work on the Ramjhula footbridge between Ramkund and Ganeshwadi. The extra work includes ramps, lighting and an 85-ft figure of Lord Ram on the bridge. Pudhari reported this on 6 October.

This is a proposal. It has not been approved yet. This is also a media report. It has not been officially confirmed.

What is proposed

The proposed extra work covers:

  • ramps on the bridge
  • lighting
  • an 85-ft figure of Lord Ram

As per the report, NMC wants to give this extra work to the contractor who already has the bridge contract. There would be no new tender for it. This too is part of the proposal and is not final.

The bridge contract so far

Here is what the report says about the main bridge work:

  • The base contract is worth ₹26.26 crore.
  • It was given at 9% above the estimate.
  • The work order is dated 18 September.
  • The earlier bow-shaped design for the bridge has been dropped.

The ₹6.56 crore of extra work would come on top of this base contract, if it is approved.

What this means

  • Nothing is final yet. The Ram figure, the ramps and the lighting are only proposed.
  • The no-tender route is also only proposed. The plan to give the work to the existing contractor still needs approval like the rest of the proposal.
  • No official notice has come out. We have only the media report for now.

None of this changes the Kumbh dates. The Dhwajarohan is on 31 October 2026 at 12:02 PM, and the Amrit Snans are on 2 August, 31 August, 11 September (Nashik) and 12 September (Trimbakeshwar) 2027.

We will update this post if NMC approves or changes the proposal.
