Nashik city police have stepped up checks across the city ahead of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela and the President's expected visit for the 31 October flag hoisting. Prahaar reported this on 17 October 2026. This is a media report; we have not seen a police press note. Rashtrapati Bhavan has not published the President's programme.
Who has been booked
- Landlords: In the first phase, in Mhasrul and Satpur police station areas, police registered cases against house owners who had not submitted their tenants' details to the local police station, which is mandatory. Prahaar does not give the number.
- Hotels and lodges: Police checked hotels and lodges in the Mumbai Naka and Dwarka areas. Five owners were booked for not recording details of foreign nationals and other guests on time, despite notices about the C-Form and logbook rules.
- Used-vehicle markets: Mumbai Naka police booked five vehicle market owners over checks on buyer identity, documents and registration in second-hand vehicle sales.
Who is running it
Prahaar says the drive is on the orders of Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik, with crime branch, special branch and local police station teams active for the past week. Police say more establishments, shops and suspicious locations will be checked in the coming days.
If you host guests during the Kumbh
Many Nashik families plan to rent out rooms or run homestays for the Kumbh. Police have appealed to house owners, hotel and lodge operators and vehicle dealers to keep their records and documents up to date and follow the rules. In practice:
- Report tenants to your local police station.
- Register every guest, and file a C-Form for foreign guests as the rules require.
- Read NTKMA's homestay push and our accommodation guide.
