Kumbh Health Plan: Temporary ICUs at Ramkund and the Main Ghats

The Kumbh health plan includes temporary ICUs at Ramkund and the main ghats, according to a report by ETV Bharat on 6 October. The plan is worth ₹260 crore.

What the plan includes
As per the report, the plan has:
- temporary ICUs at Ramkund and the main ghats
- 3 portable emergency units
- 136 temporary health centres
- 190 ambulances
- 3,600 extra health staff
The report also says temporary hospitals will be set up at crowded places. One of these is a temporary hospital at Sadhugram.
More beds in NMC hospitals
Three hospitals run by the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) will get more beds:
- Dr Zakir Hussain Hospital
- Indira Gandhi Hospital
- Balasaheb Thackeray Hospital
Together they will go from 1,305 beds to 1,945 beds. This will include 185 ICU beds.
The official estimate is about 8 crore people in Nashik during the Kumbh, and about 12 crore in total.
What this means for pilgrims
- Help near the water. If the plan goes ahead as reported, there will be ICU care close to Ramkund and the main ghats.
- Ambulances. The plan has 190 ambulances for help in busy areas.
- Details still to come. The exact places of the health centres and hospitals have not been published yet. We will share them when they are.
