12 New Ghats for Simhastha 2027: 10 in Nashik, 2 in Trimbakeshwar, Due by March 2027

By The Nashik Kumbh Desk

Ten new ghats (3,451 m, ₹361.26 crore) are being built along the Godavari in Nashik and two (₹146.10 crore) in Trimbakeshwar, with a March 2027 target. Here are the names, the latest review, and where the numbers still differ.

More bathing space is the single biggest need on an Amrit Snan morning. For the 2027 Simhastha, 12 new ghats are being built along the Godavari: 10 in Nashik and 2 in Trimbakeshwar.

The 10 new ghats in Nashik

Kumbh Mela Commissioner Shekhar Singh gave the details on record (Punekar News, 30 March 2026). The 10 Nashik ghats add up to 3,451 metres and cost ₹361.26 crore:

  • Kapila Sangam: 400 m
  • Nandini Sangam: 275 m
  • Takali Sangam Bridge: 400 m
  • Takali Sangam: 300 m
  • Nandur Dasak Left: 500 m
  • Nandur Dasak Right: 570 m
  • Odha: 255 m
  • Someshwar Waterfall: 174 m
  • Navashya Ganpati: 167 m
  • Lakshminarayan: 410 m

According to the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority (NTKMA), this takes Nashik from 10 ghats to 20, spread over about 9 km.

The 2 new ghats in Trimbakeshwar

In Trimbakeshwar, two new ghats are coming up, one on the left bank (1,614 m) and one on the right bank (1,526 m). They cost ₹146.10 crore and are being built by the Water Resources Department.

The target for all 12 ghats is March 2027.

Progress so far

At an NTKMA review on 19 July 2026, work was checked at Kapila confluence, Takli (Nandini confluence), Odha Ram Ghat, Dasak (both banks) and Trimbak (both banks), with a March 2027 deadline (Free Press Journal, 20 July 2026). The Gautami Godavari Dam to Trimbak lift scheme, meant to keep the river flowing at Trimbak, was also reviewed.

Two more points come from media reports only:

  • Navbharat Live reported that Guardian Secretary Eknath Dawale had earlier set a January 2027 target for the ghats.
  • Tender portals reportedly showed the Takali right-bank ghat still at the evaluation stage in May 2026.

How many ghats will Nashik have?

The numbers differ by source. NTKMA (March 2026) says Nashik goes from 10 ghats to 20. The police, in Commissioner of Police Sandeep Karnik's briefing reported by the Times of India on 11 August 2026, put it at "nine to 18". Until there is one official figure, we are giving both.

Existing ghats

The NTKMA plan also includes developing and extending three existing ghats: Ahilya Ghat, Shri Chandra Ghat and Shri Nath Ghat.

Separately, a ₹44 crore restoration of existing ghats was reported to have been tendered in August 2026, with completion in May 2027. We could not confirm this from the original source, so treat it as reported only.

What this means for pilgrims

  • Ramkund is the best-known ghat in Nashik, but the new ghats should help spread the crowd along the river. The official ghat-wise crowd plan has not been published yet.
  • If the March 2027 target holds, the new ghats should be ready well before the first Amrit Snan on 2 August 2027. See all dates on our dates page.
  • For the ghats you can visit now, see our ghats page. For Kushavarta and the Trimbak side, see our Trimbakeshwar Kumbh 2027 page.

This site is an independent guide and is not run by NTKMA. We will update this post as the ghats are completed.
